In February 2021, the OnGo Alliance hosted its virtual event, OnGo Forward – CBRS, 5G and Beyond. During this event participants heard directly from those who are deploying and utilizing these OnGo networks on CBRS, as well as sessions on what to expect from 5G with OnGo, addressing indoor cellular coverage, and a look at regulatory and policy aspects of shared spectrum both in the US and globally.
Day 1
- Opening Remarks – FCC Acting Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel
With over 228 CBRS spectrum PAL license holders and a diverse ecosystem of adopters, from large tech companies to the New York Public Library, the CBRS band is designed for innovation. The OnGo Alliance, which has spearheaded collaboration efforts within the CBRS band, exhibits this innovation – growing 40% and adding 52 members in 2020 alone. - Bridging the Digital Divide & More in Tucson – Collin Boyce
Accessible connectivity is no longer considered a luxury, but a basic human right – especially amidst a pandemic. The City of Tucson is leveraging CBRS deployments to effectively address this need. It has proven success in deploying small private wireless networks for neighborhood areas without wireless coverage, and is now scaling those successful deployments to provide smart city connectivity for public transit, traffic information and more. - Student & Teacher Connectivity – Roaring Fork School District
Shared spectrum connectivity is helping to bridge the digital divide and homework gap via the CBRS band. Through its partnership with Google, the Roaring Fork School District was able to build 13 sites in 10 days to provide its students (45% of which came from low-income families) with a private wireless CBRS network to use within their own homes for homework assignments
Day 2
- 5G and the Future of OnGo: Smart Factory in Lewisville TX – Ericsson
Ericsson’s 5G smart factory, powered by OnGo, is a full-scale operation that realizes the potential of 5G with Industry 4.0 to enable intelligent automation and leverage real-time data across operations. The state-of-the-art factory is equipped with fast and secure cellular connectivity. It is a highly automated 5G smart factory and sets a precedent for how smart manufacturing can optimize processes for efficiency and increase production through automation. Learn more about the different OnGo use cases within the smart factory – including energy/environmental monitoring, autonomous guided vehicles, and AR-guided work instructions – during this interesting session! - 5G and the Future of OnGo: 5G Smart Warehouse in Albany GA – Federated Wireless
Federated Wireless is working with the U.S. Department of Defense, along with an all-U.S. team of partners, to modernize Marine Corps Logistics Command warehouse operations using an OnGo private 5G wireless network. The new private enterprise 5G network supports a broad set of smart warehouse use cases, including warehouse robotics, barcode scanning, and holographic, augmented, and virtual reality applications. Check out this session to learn more about this exciting deployment.
Day 3
- The Outlook of Spectrum
To support the increasing number of shared spectrum initiatives outside the United States, the Alliance recently expanded its mission to encompass 3GPP technologies operating in shared spectrum bands worldwide – leveraging its members’ groundbreaking successes in commercializing the CBRS band in the United States. This session will include insights from international experts working on these types of initiatives in the United Kingdom and Europe and highlight the technologies shaping communications for the future.
Day 4
- OnGo Neutral Host
Unfortunately, a lack of seamless mobile coverage and poor user experience remains common in many indoor venues. During this session, Chetan Sharma, T-Mobile’s Luke Lucas, and Youssef Abdeliah cover why OnGo is a natural technology choice for neutral host network operators who can solve the indoor cellular challenge for service providers, venue owners, and enterprises. Steve Wimsatt, Vice-Chair of the OnGo Alliance Business Working Group, also shares results from our recent OnGo Neutral Host Network survey supporting this trend.
